$SEI has returned to the spotlight after a notable rise in its market price, prompting renewed discussion around the potential rotation of capital into alternative Layer 1 networks.

The token moved from approximately $0.0455 on September 18 to around $0.0634 on September 25, representing a gain of roughly 39% over the week. While the move has brought traders’ attention back to SEI, the more important question is whether the renewed interest can develop into sustained ecosystem growth.

Sei is a Layer 1 blockchain designed for high-performance applications, with its ecosystem extending across decentralized finance, gaming, infrastructure, stablecoins and real-world assets. This broader application base gives the network multiple areas through which activity could develop beyond simple token speculation.

Recent ecosystem developments have added to that narrative. A recent SEC filing related to a proposed SEI investment product cited approximately 124 decentralized applications on the network as of August 2026, while also highlighting activity around lending, real-world assets, stablecoins and market-data infrastructure.

Stablecoin growth could be particularly important for Sei. Native USDC has expanded the network’s stablecoin infrastructure, while Ondo’s USDY has been expected to launch on Sei. Greater stablecoin liquidity could provide additional liquidity for DeFi applications and potentially support higher on-chain activity.

Accessibility has also improved. MetaMask’s official support for Sei gives users a more familiar way to interact with the network and its applications. While easier wallet access does not guarantee adoption, reducing friction can make it simpler for users to explore an ecosystem.

The recent price strength has also raised a broader market question: could another Layer 1 rotation be developing?

Crypto liquidity often moves between different narratives as market attention changes. After periods of strength in major assets, traders may begin looking toward alternative ecosystems for fresh opportunities. However, a single strong move in SEI is not enough to establish a broader Layer 1 rotation.

The more meaningful indicators will be sustained network usage, growing stablecoin liquidity, increasing application activity and continued interest across multiple Layer 1 ecosystems.

For SEI, the market has already started paying attention again. The next challenge is determining whether that attention can translate into lasting ecosystem activity.

The price has reopened the conversation around SEI. Now, network growth will determine how meaningful that conversation becomes.
