Solana Wants to Turn 12.8 Seconds Into 150 Milliseconds Solana has started testing Alpenglow, an upgrade designed to reduce transaction finality from roughly 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds. That’s an enormous difference for $SOL : not simply processing transactions faster, but reaching agreement that a transaction is effectively irreversible much sooner. I think finality gets overlooked because TPS is much easier to market. But for a trader, payment provider or financial app, “the network processed my transaction” and “I can safely treat this transaction as settled” aren't quite the same thing. At 150 milliseconds, blockchain settlement starts moving into a completely different UX category. The delay becomes short enough that a normal user probably wouldn't perceive it at all. Of course, a test environment isn't production, and performance under real network conditions is what ultimately matters. But if Solana can get anywhere close to that target reliably, $SOL's more interesting speed metric may stop being transactions per second altogether. #Macro Insights# #Altcoin Season#
