Supporters of the Jets were genuinely optimistic about establishing a fresh standard this year, hoping to kick off the season with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2015. Sadly, the team reverted to its familiar patterns and suffered a difficult overtime defeat. The victory slipped away when a 10-point advantage was surrendered during the fourth quarter. The situation then completely unraveled in overtime due to a series of undisciplined penalties and the concession of two critical sacks. If building a modern era of winning is not possible right now, it would be fantastic to simply travel back in time to the historic standard set in 1969.
