$ZEC — This rally genuinely hurts to watch.
Back when privacy coins were facing their toughest regulatory pressure and ZEC dropped into the $20–$30 range, I thought it had a setup similar to early SOL — something that looked almost dead, but could still come back from the edge.
Barry Silbert kept talking about ZEC and even floated a long-term $1,500 target, so I built a pretty large position.
Then everything changed.
The exchange I was using delisted $ZEC because of regulatory pressure, and Binance later placed it on a monitoring list.
That completely shook my confidence.
I started thinking: if exchanges keep removing it one by one, what happens if there’s eventually nowhere left to trade it?
The more I thought about it, the more afraid I became.
So I sold.
When ZEC started recovering, I still felt like I had made the right decision. At the time, the regulatory risk was real and nobody knew what would happen next.
Then it kept going higher.
At first I thought it would pull back.
Then it got too expensive to chase.
And eventually all I could do was watch.
Now $ZEC is getting closer and closer to that old $1,500 target Barry talked about.
That’s what hurts the most.
I didn’t miss the opportunity.
I actually bought it early.
I just couldn’t hold through the uncertainty.
Sometimes the hardest part of investing isn’t finding the right asset.
It’s having enough conviction to stay in the trade when the story gets uncomfortable.
