$XRP Gained 3% as Ripple Added MPP Support for AI Agent Payments
XRP rose about 3% over the past 24 hours, trading near $1.31, after Ripple updated its XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit to support the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), a standard built by Stripe and Tempo. The update lets AI agents pay for data, computing power, and other services using XRP or Ripple's stablecoin $RLUSD , through repeated payment sessions rather than one-off transactions. Ripple had already added support for a rival standard, x402, back in June, and is now backing both.
The mechanics: a service sets a price, an AI agent approves payment in XRP, and the provider delivers the resource. $XRP supports both one-time payments and session-based payments through payment channels, letting an agent deposit funds once and run many paid requests without each one hitting the blockchain. #RLUSD is more limited for now, restricted to one-time transfers until a planned ledger upgrade adds session support for it. The feature is still in testing, and Ripple hasn't named any commercial users or shared transaction volumes yet.
