Hyperliquid has edged ahead in tracked USDC balances. DefiLlama’s pages checked on September 17, 2026 showed this comparison.

NetworkTracked USDC valueWeekly changeHyperliquid L1$6.717 billion−2.44%Solana$6.700 billion−6.07%

Using those rounded figures, the lead is approximately $17 million, or just 0.25%.

Both networks’ USDC balances declined over the past week. That changes how I read the milestone: a ranking crossover can happen when one balance falls faster. It does not establish that capital moved directly from Solana into Hyperliquid.

The comparison also covers USDC specifically. Solana’s total tracked stablecoin market remains larger, at approximately $15.459 billion versus Hyperliquid’s $6.832 billion.

For me, the stronger adoption signal would be sustained deposits alongside deeper liquidity and recurring trading activity. A larger USDC balance can support collateral and settlement, but its practical value depends on how that capital is used and how long it stays.

I would also watch depositor concentration. A lead this small could reverse with relatively modest balance changes, especially if a few large accounts drive the difference.

Can Hyperliquid maintain the lead while rebuilding its USDC balance?
