MOEX BRINGS BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP AND TRX INTO PERPETUAL FUTURES
Moscow Exchange (MOEX) will launch index perpetual futures for BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and TRX on September 22, 2026. The products are available only to qualified investors and provide crypto price exposure without delivery of the underlying assets.
The contracts will be quoted in USD but cash-settled in RUB. They use automatic rollover rather than direct ownership of the underlying assets.
MOEX already had crypto derivatives activity before introducing the five new products. More than 72,000 qualified investors have participated in digital-asset futures, with cumulative trading volume exceeding 600 billion RUB.
The 600 billion RUB figure is not the volume of the five new contracts. It represents activity from previously launched digital-asset derivatives.
The new products will track MOEX crypto indexes: BTCUSDF, ETHUSDF, SOLUSDF, XRPUSDF and TRXUSDF. RUB settlement means financial results are processed in the domestic currency rather than through delivery of the underlying tokens.
MOEX introduced crypto futures in 2025 and expanded its SOL, XRP and TRX indexes in 2026. Perpetual futures for five assets push crypto further into traditional derivatives infrastructure.
However, access remains restricted to qualified investors. Initial impact will depend on liquidity and participation.
After September 22, trading volume, liquidity and sustained activity across each contract will be key data points. It will also be important to distinguish new capital from activity shifting out of existing futures products.
Will the five new contracts add meaningful liquidity to crypto derivatives, or mainly expand product choice on MOEX?
