Brazil still heads for a record soybean crop as acreage expansion slows to a 20-year low

🌱 Conab projects Brazil’s 2026/27 soybean area at 49.3 million hectares, up 1.4% from the previous season. This would mark the slowest percentage increase in 20 years as weaker margins reduce incentives to expand farmland.

📊 Production is still forecast at a record 181.64 million tonnes, up 0.7%, while yields are expected to decline slightly by around 0.8%. Conab’s estimate is about 4.4 million tonnes below the USDA’s 186 million-tonne forecast.

📈 November CBOT soybeans gained around 1.1% on September 15 to about $13.18–13.19 per bushel. With Brazil’s planting season only beginning, attention is likely to shift toward planting progress and weather risks in the coming months.
