The crypto market may be showing some weakness, but Hyperliquid (HYPE) is refusing to slow down. While many traders are watching for the next market correction, HYPE continues to trade close to record territory.
At the time of writing, HYPE is around $82, only slightly below its recent all-time high near $83.19. It has also gained roughly 40% over the past week, making it one of the strongest major tokens in the current market.
So why is HYPE staying this strong?
One big reason is that Hyperliquid has become much more than another crypto project. It has built a major on-chain trading ecosystem with real users, serious trading activity and growing revenue.
The numbers are getting difficult to ignore. Hyperliquid generated about $419 million in gross fees during the first half of 2026, while trading volume reached roughly $1.29 trillion. Average daily users also nearly doubled compared with the same period last year.
That matters because traders are not simply buying a story. They are watching an ecosystem that is actually being used.
Another powerful part of the HYPE story is its token economics. Eligible protocol fees are used for systematic HYPE buybacks, creating a connection between activity on Hyperliquid and demand for its native token.
And now there is another catalyst.
A new framework activated on August 26 is designed to use most of the yield generated from Hyperliquid's large USDC reserves for additional HYPE buybacks and burns. If the system works as intended, it could add another source of long-term buying pressure beyond normal trading fees.
Hyperliquid is also expanding beyond traditional crypto trading. Its HIP-3 markets have grown rapidly and opened the ecosystem to a much wider range of markets. That expansion gives Hyperliquid another possible growth engine instead of depending entirely on normal crypto activity.
This combination explains why HYPE has been able to show unusual strength.
Strong platform activity.
Growing revenue.
Token buybacks.
More markets.
And traders are clearly paying attention.
But this rally is not without risk. HYPE recently reached record territory after a very fast move, and a significant token unlock is scheduled for August 29. Around 14.18 million HYPE are expected to be unlocked, so the market will be watching closely to see how that extra supply is absorbed.
That could become HYPE's biggest short-term test.
If buyers absorb the new supply while Hyperliquid continues growing, HYPE could remain one of the strongest stories in the market. But after such a large rally, expecting the price to move straight up without volatility would be risky.
For now, one thing is clear: HYPE is not being ignored anymore.
While much of the market is waiting for direction, Hyperliquid is sitting close to record highs and building momentum around real platform activity.
The question has changed from “Why is HYPE pumping?” to “How long can this strength continue?”
And with HYPE already knocking on the door of fresh price discovery, the next few days could be very interesting.
