Privacy on a blockchain does not have to mean losing the ability to verify what happened.
That idea is what makes Dusk interesting to me.
Dusk uses two native transaction models: Moonlight, where transactions are public and account-based, and Phoenix, where transfers are shielded using zero-knowledge proofs. With Phoenix, transaction details such as the transferred amount and specific participants are not exposed publicly, while viewing keys can enable selective disclosure when authorized parties need information.
And there is another important piece: DuskDS. It serves as the settlement, consensus, and data-availability foundation of the Dusk L1, while DuskVM and DuskEVM provide different paths for smart-contract execution.
So the story is not simply “privacy.”
It is about having privacy where it is needed, transparency where it is useful, and deterministic settlement for on-chain financial workflows.
The real thing I want to watch is how these pieces work together as more applications and regulated assets move onchain.
