How Nodes Verify a Blockchain Transaction 🔗

A blockchain transaction is not trusted simply because someone sends it.

Before a transaction can become part of the blockchain, network nodes must verify that it follows the rules.

Here’s what happens:

1️⃣ The transaction arrives
A node receives the transaction through the blockchain's peer-to-peer network.

2️⃣ The digital signature is checked
The node verifies that the transaction was authorized by the holder of the relevant private key.

3️⃣ The transaction format is checked
The node confirms that the transaction contains valid data and follows the network's required structure.

4️⃣ The available state is checked
Depending on the blockchain design, the node checks whether the sender has the necessary available balance, UTXOs, or other required state.

5️⃣ Network rules are applied
The node checks whether the transaction follows the blockchain's protocol rules.

6️⃣ Valid or invalid?

✅ Valid: The transaction can be propagated to other nodes and may eventually be included in a block.

❌ Invalid: The node rejects it and does not treat it as a valid transaction.

The important idea is that nodes independently verify transactions instead of simply trusting the sender.

That distributed verification is a major part of how blockchain networks maintain a consistent state without relying on one central database administrator.
