Protocol-level locks are interesting because they can enforce spending conditions at the protocol layer, giving agents room to transact without giving them unlimited freedom. With sponsored transactions and x402 integration added to the picture, Concordium is exploring what an actual commerce rail for autonomous agents could look like. The goal shouldn’t be agents that can spend freely. It should be agents that can spend within rules.
