After spending a few days digging into Dusk one thing started to stand out to me finality on a network usually comes with a trade off.

Either you wait longer or you rely on a smaller group to make the decision. Dusk takes a different route.

The whitepaper explains Fast Probabilistic Finality (FPF) where a block can become final once enough committee provisioners have signed off on it.

As signatures reach the required threshold the block can be finalized without waiting for another fixed round.

It’s called probabilistic because a conflicting chain is still theoretically possible but that probability becomes extremely small as honest participation increases.

What I find interesting is the balance here the goal isn't simply to make finality fast. It's to make it fast while keeping the security properties of a decentralized system.

FPF is a good example of how consensus design can turn finality from a waiting game into something much more immediate.
