Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has warned crypto users about the potential security implications of a recent data breach involving a logistics service provider connected to hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor.
According to the reported figures, around 13,700 customers were impacted, with approximately 11,700 users reportedly having personal details such as names, email addresses, phone numbers and delivery addresses exposed.
While Trezor’s wallet infrastructure and users’ private keys were not reportedly compromised, CZ highlighted the broader risks created when personal identity and physical address information can be associated with cryptocurrency ownership.
Such exposure could increase the threat of phishing, targeted social-engineering attacks, impersonation scams and, in extreme cases, physical security concerns.
Trezor has maintained that user funds and the core wallet infrastructure were not directly affected. However, affected users should remain highly cautious of suspicious emails, calls, messages and requests claiming to represent Trezor or other crypto platforms.
The incident is another reminder that protecting crypto assets involves more than securing private keys — personal information and operational security matter too.
