Dusk runs on two transaction models.
This post is about the first one, Moonlight. The second one, Phoenix, I'm saving for next time. Moonlight is the public side of Dusk.

Think of it like a normal account your address your balance every transfer you send, all sitting out in the open for anyone to check.

That's basically how Ethereum works too.

Here's the part I find interesting. Dusk started out as a privacy chain. Its original model, Phoenix, hides amounts and senders by default.
Great for privacy but a real problem for exchanges. They need to see balances and money flows to stay compliant, or they risk getting delisted.
So the team built Moonlight to give exchanges a fully visible option. It came with a nice side effect too faster transactions and higher throughput.

The two models talk to each other. You can take DUSK sitting in a private Phoenix balance and move it into a public Moonlight account, or go the other way, any time you like.
Same coin, two modes and this is the smart call. Most chains lock you into private or public forever Dusk lets you pick per transaction, and for a project chasing regulated finance that beats privacy at all costs every time.
poenix is next.
