Spent some time digging into $BABY today, and one thing stood out.
Over 56,800 BTC is now locked in Babylon vaults. That's billions of dollars helping secure the network and earning yield. On paper, it's a huge step for Bitcoin utility.
But the more I read, the more I realized something interesting.
The Bitcoin itself doesn't participate in governance. It strengthens network security, supports finality providers, and stays fully productive, but decisions about protocol upgrades, fees, and future direction are still made by BABY holders through governance.
That changes how I look at the phrase "Bitcoin becomes active."
It's active because it's finally being used instead of sitting idle. But it's not active in the sense of having a voice over the protocol it helps secure.
Maybe that's the right design. Separating security from governance keeps things cleaner and easier to manage.
Still, it leaves me with one question:
If Bitcoin is providing so much of the economic security, should it eventually have some influence over the network's direction, or is governance meant to stay with the BABY token forever?
Curious to hear what everyone else thinks.
