Bitcoin sitting at 64,771 today, and honestly the number itself doesn't excite me as much as the shape of the year behind it. Down 44% over twelve months, down almost 27% over six months, yet up nearly 9% in the last thirty days. That's not a coin recovering, that's a coin still finding its footing after getting hammered, and I think a lot of people forget how far it actually fell before celebrating these small green days.
What keeps me watching $BTC despite everything is that it's still the asset every other conversation in this space eventually circles back to. Payments narratives, institutional flows, ETF chatter, all of it still routes through Bitcoin first. That's not going away regardless of price action. There's something to be said for an asset that survives a near halving in value over a year and still commands this much liquidity, 426 million in 24h volume on this pair alone.
The risk side is obvious though. A 44% yearly drawdown means anyone who bought near the top is still deeply underwater, and short-term bounces like this 15-minute climb from 64,293 to 64,827 can just as easily reverse if broader sentiment turns. Volume climbing on green candles is decent, but one intraday push doesn't erase a year of weakness.
Does this feel like the start of real stabilization to you, or just noise inside a longer downtrend that hasn't finished playing out?
