Here’s a question I keep coming back to with tokenized assets: if the backing disappeared, how would you know? Picture two tokens. Both promise to be backed 1:1 by gold. (Hypothetical, but the problem is real.) The first shows you a reserve report once a quarter. A PDF, a signature, and a date that’s already in the past by the time you read it. The second publishes a backing ratio onchain, live. Circulating supply on one side, actual reserves on the other. Now say a slice of that gold quietly leaves the vault. The first token’s holders find out weeks later, when the next report lands. The second token’s ratio moves right away, and any protocol reading it can react before the damage spreads. Same promise. Completely different level of evidence. “Backed” is a claim. A backing ratio is something you can check. That’s the idea behind Proof of Reserves at @DIAdata_org: verifying that circulating supply matches real backing, even when reserves sit offchain or across several custodians, and publishing the result continuously instead of waiting for the next audit. #tGBP already uses it, and Stroom uses #DİA to verify Bitcoin reserves onchain. The same thinking applies to tokens that barely trade. Fund shares don’t have a deep market to price from, so DIA’s NAV feeds read the onchain balance sheet, price the holdings and return a per-share value. The price reflects what the token is worth, not what it last traded for. #Tokenization made it easy to put assets onchain. The hard part is proving what’s behind them. Who can verify that? $DIA

Picture two tokens. Both promise to be backed 1:1 by gold. (Hypothetical, but the problem is real.)

The first shows you a reserve report once a quarter.

#Tokenization made it easy to put assets onchain. The hard part is proving what’s behind them.
