💥 BlackRock’s IBIT regains weekly options expiries after MIAX rule change

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has regained access to additional short-term options expiries on the MIAX exchange after a new Tier 2 eligibility framework lowered the requirements for ETFs.

Under the new framework, the threshold was reduced from more than $50 billion in assets under management and 10 million monthly options sides to more than $25 billion in AUM and 5 million monthly sides. IBIT had around $43.23 billion in net assets at the end of June, putting it above the new threshold.

The change restores Monday and Wednesday short-term expiries for IBIT, giving traders more flexibility to hedge or take short-duration positions. However, this is a venue-specific change at MIAX, not a market-wide expansion of IBIT options. The new expiries could improve liquidity and hedging flexibility, but their impact on Bitcoin volatility remains uncertain.
