Real time proving with zkVMs can help Ethereum L1 scale to a GIGAGAS.

In this world, prover networks will be critical infrastructure to connect every proposer to a global set of provers that generate proofs reliably for every single block.

@ks_kulk wrote a ETH Research post about (1) why we should leverage the latest ZK advancements to scale the L1 ASAP and (2) how prover networks will fit into the L1 block supply chain.

tl;dr from the past week of EF workshops in Berlin: Ethereum is all-in zkVMs for scaling the L1.

Real-time proving showed that massively scaling the L1 with ZK is possible today. Justin Drake even outlined a path to eventual enshrinement of zkVMs in the L1.

They are far more serious about this effort than I realized.

The future of zkVM demand has never looked brighter.

Every day, I hear about a new verifiable exchange being built. These performant orderbooks will require an insane number of proofs.

Can already count >10 strong teams are tackling this space.

In Q1 of this year, we went hard with the "every rollup will be a ZK rollup" messaging. At this point, this transition seems inevitable--although it'll take some time to play out, as technology adoption always does.

This quarter, we've been seeing the rise of non-rollup use-cases for ZK that are equally exciting:
• ZK identity aka "Proof of Whale" (h/t @freakmycrypto who used it to bootstrap an anonymous X account)
• Private stablecoins, like @MyntUSD
• Verifiable exchanges aka "ZK Hyperliquid", announcements Soon TM

ZK tidal wave incoming.

On ETH Proofs, there are now 3 teams besides Succinct that are generating SP1 proofs: @Snarkify_ZKP, @thezkcloud and @cysic_xyz!

Excited to get these prover teams onboarded to the network.
