The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) has experienced a notable decline in new domain registrations during the month of September, according to data from Dune Analytics. In comparison to the previous month, which saw 20,202 new ENS domains created, September witnessed a drop of 22.9% to 15,569 registrations. This decrease marks the second consecutive month of decline for ENS domain registrations, following a slowdown in August. Despite the recent dip, the total number of ENS domains created to date remains impressive, standing at 1,912,116. Additionally, there have been 886,738 unique addresses that have created ENS domains. Industry experts believe that the recent decline in ENS domain registrations could be attributed to several factors, including market volatility and the ongoing bear market, which may have dampened investor enthusiasm. ENS domains have gained popularity due to their ability to provide human-readable names for Ethereum addresses and other blockchain-based identifiers, enhancing user experience and reducing the risk of errors caused by long and complex addresses. Despite the recent slowdown in registrations, the ENS ecosystem continues to evolve. The team behind ENS is actively working on developing new features and integrations, and the wider adoption of ENS domains is expected to resume once the market conditions improve.
