The $NEAR Intents $3.8M hacker just gave everything back.
Less than 24 hours after NEAR said it had identified the person behind the $3.8M exploit, the full amount was returned before the 48-hour deadline.
And the message attached to the return was unexpected.
The attacker admitted they were “in the wrong,” thanked the NEAR team for handling the situation respectfully, and told them to use bug bounties instead of disrupting services.
Crypto hacks usually end with funds disappearing into a maze of wallets.
This one ended with the hacker sending every dollar back… This is great!
It’s Official… Tether’s $184B USDT is coming back to Bitcoin this month .
Utexo (Backed by Tether) plans to bring Bitcoin-native USDT back this month, with private transfers, direct BTC/USDT swaps and loans using native $BTC as collateral after securing a license to do so.
For years, stablecoin activity mostly moved where the infrastructure was easier to use, especially Ethereum and Tron. Now Tether is putting serious effort into making Bitcoin itself a settlement rail for dollars.
It looks like Tether is finally trying to make Bitcoin useful for moving dollars at scale again.
The team says the economics no longer work: maintaining the chain costs more than the revenue it generates, and they don’t see a credible path to making it sustainable.
That’s a pretty brutal reality for an L2.
Blast launched around native yield, incentives and building an onchain economy, but eventually the chain itself still has to pay for its existence.
Users now have until October 26 to withdraw through the normal Blast interface, after which withdrawals will still be possible directly through the Ethereum bridge contracts.
The L2 race is getting a little more interesting as projects start having to prove they can actually survive financially.
$BTC broke above $85K after sellers pulled their asks, according to Glassnode.
Now the next major sell wall is forming around $87K.
I actually like this setup more than a straight breakout because we’re seeing the resistance move higher instead of one massive wall sitting directly above BTC.
The question now is whether buyers can chew through $87K too, or if sellers finally push back.
$NEAR Intents says it has identified the person behind the $3.8M exploit and is giving them one final window of 48-hours to return the funds under responsible disclosure.
Most of the stolen funds had already been traced onchain, with the majority ending up as BTC across four wallets.
Now we wait to see whether the hacker takes the exit or decides to test how far that identification really goes.
Ethereum and XRP sentiment has gotten seriously negative.
Santiment says ETH now has just 0.89 bullish comments for every bearish one, its lowest reading since June 7. $XRP is even lower at 0.67, the weakest since August 17.
