🚨 UPDATE: The $6.3 BILLION Binance hack reportedly started with a FAKE job interview.
According to CoinDesk, an engineer downloaded a malware-infected coding assignment after attackers pretended to be recruiters.
Here’s how the attack unfolded:
- Hackers reportedly used an internal AI tool to access two wallet engineers’ computers.
- Stolen credentials allowed them to execute a malicious script on October 29.
- They exploited Ethereum’s EIP-7702 feature to gain control of a hot wallet.
- Binance took approximately four hours to contain the attack.
Binance says $2.85 BILLION has been frozen, while 98% of affected tokens have been replenished using company funds.
The exchange says users will NOT bear the losses.
The FBI has attributed the attack to North Korea.
A fake job interview. A compromised computer. Billions at risk.
How safe are crypto exchanges, really?
