In September, factory orders saw a month-over-month increase of 1.8 percent, outperforming the projected 1.2 percent gain and accelerating from the 0.3 percent rise recorded in the prior period. Meanwhile, when excluding the transportation sector, orders climbed 1.3 percent on a monthly basis, comfortably beating expectations of 0.5 percent as well as the previous month's 0.4 percent figure.
