Crypto.com will discontinue its consumer app services in Hong Kong from February 1 2027 citing regulatory changes and a review of its global operations.
The company said affected customers had been notified and would receive instructions on closing their accounts and withdrawing funds.
The move comes as Crypto.com continues pursuing a virtual asset trading platform (VATP) licence for its institutional exchange through Foris DAX HK Limited.
The entity submitted its application to Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in February 2024 but remains under the regulator’s transitional ‘deemed-to-be-licensed’ status rather than holding full approval.
Crypto.com said it remains committed to the Asia-Pacific market and will continue engaging with regulators.
