Glossary: slippage š
Slippage is the gap between the price you clicked and the price you actually got.
Example: you market-buy a small coin at 1.00 USDT. The order book is thin, so your order eats through several sell orders and fills at an average of 1.03. That 3% is slippage.
When it bites hardest:
⢠low-liquidity coins
⢠big market orders
⢠fast moves right after news
How to keep it small:
⢠use limit orders instead of market orders
⢠split a big order into a few smaller ones
⢠check order book depth before you hit buy
Ever been hit by slippage on a trade? How bad was it? š
