Coinbase has clarified the scare doing the rounds this morning: it says Coinbase itself was not breached.
I checked the statement, not the screenshots claiming something much bigger. What Coinbase Support actually said is narrower: a security incident at Amplitude, its analytics vendor, affected a small subset of Coinbase customer contact data, plus data of other Amplitude customers. Coinbase found no evidence of unauthorized access to its own systems, and customer funds were not impacted.
Coinbase disclosed neither the customer count nor the fields involved, so the scope stays unknown — 'small subset' is its wording, not a verified number.
Why it still matters: a vendor incident can give phishers contact details that make a fake support message look real, even with wallets untouched. If a 'Coinbase' message pushes you to click, log in, or move funds, verify it in the app first, never via the link.
Tape, context only: $BTC $80,999.99 (+1.56%/24h); ETH $2,360.11 (+2.06%), Binance spot ~10:26 WIB. Not a reaction claim. DYOR — when did you last verify a support message in the app?
