The Message

At 11:59 PM on Halloween night, I received a strange message: “The next block will reveal everything.” I was scrolling through Binance Square when I discovered a mysterious golden pumpkin with glowing eyes. Its caption read, “Every chain has a secret. Every opportunity has a cost.” Curiosity made me investigate.

The Midnight Chain

According to a fictional internet legend, a mysterious blockchain appeared every Halloween. Nobody knew who created it, but people believed its final block contained a hidden message. I called it The Midnight Chain.

At midnight, my laptop displayed a notification: BLOCK 12,001 CONFIRMED. The message included a link promising an exclusive crypto reward. For a moment, I considered opening it, but then I noticed the unfamiliar account, suspicious website, and urgent instructions. Something wasn't right, so I closed the link.

Suddenly, my screen went black. In its reflection, I saw an orange light behind me. A glowing pumpkin sat on my desk, its golden symbol shining in the darkness. I turned around, but nothing was there.

When I looked back, another message appeared: “You rejected the reward. Why?” I typed one answer: “Because I couldn't verify it.” The reply arrived instantly: “Then you understand the chain.”

My laptop restarted. Every mysterious notification disappeared, leaving one sentence on the screen: “Trust is not a feeling. It is something you verify.”

The Real Horror of Crypto

The next morning, I understood what made the experience frightening. It wasn't the pumpkin or the mysterious blockchain. It was how convincing the promise of an exclusive reward had seemed.

In crypto, fake accounts, suspicious links, and misleading promotions can exploit curiosity. Even a familiar logo doesn't prove that a message is genuine. That's why three principles matter in Web3:

1. Verify Before You Trust: Check official sources and website addresses before interacting with unfamiliar links.

2. Protect Your Assets: Never share your seed phrase or private keys. Carefully review wallet connections and transaction approvals.

3. Think Before You Act: Understand an opportunity before making a decision. Don't let the fear of missing out replace your judgment.

Blockchain technology enables verifiable records, but users still need to make informed decisions.

A Different Kind of Halloween

We imagine monsters hiding in abandoned houses and dark forests. In the digital world, they can appear as fake announcements, suspicious messages, or rewards that seem too good to question.

Perhaps the real hero isn't the person who discovers a secret fortune. It's the person who knows when not to click.

The Midnight Chain was fictional. Its lesson is real.

This Halloween, I'm celebrating creativity, technology, and smarter decisions in Web3 through the Binance Square Halloween Creator Campaign.

🎃 One final question: If a mysterious pumpkin offered you the opportunity of a lifetime, would you follow the glow—or verify the source first?

Share your thoughts in the comments, and let's make this Halloween a celebration of creativity and crypto awareness. Happy Halloween, Binance Square community! 👻
