Lookonchain counts 17,733 $BTC , about $1.48 billion, plus 750 wrapped bitcoin, about $62 million. Coinbase Prime is the custodian the U.S. Marshals picked in 2024 to hold seized coins. A prior move to Coinbase Prime, 57.5 $BTC from the Samourai forfeiture, was later confirmed unsold. Most of this flow traces to Bitfinex-hack recoveries and older seizures. bitcoin fell about 6.9% in the same window, from the high $80,000s toward $80,500, close to $10,000 off the recent high. Long liquidations were already running above $380 million on the day. The timing matches. The cause is not proven. $1.54 billion is the deposit. A sale would be coins leaving custody for a buyer.
