๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Crypto Lobbying Is Getting Expensive
The U.S. CLARITY Act became one of the crypto industry's major regulatory priorities in 2026.
According to Bloomberg Government analyses of lobbying disclosures, major crypto companies and industry groups spent roughly $8.6Mโ€“$8.8M on federal lobbying during the first half of 2026 as they pushed for progress on the legislation.
The bill aims to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets and clarify the roles of the SEC and CFTC.
But despite the industry's lobbying efforts, the Senate failed to advance the bill in September after it fell short of the 60 votes needed to proceed.
What I find interesting is the bigger picture:
Crypto regulation has become a major industry priority โ€” and companies are spending millions trying to shape the rules.
The question now is what happens next:
Will lawmakers revisit the CLARITY Act? Could negotiations produce a revised version? How might continued regulatory uncertainty affect crypto businesses in the U.S.?
How important do you think regulatory clarity is for the next phase of crypto adoption?
