I think there's one TermMax risk that's more interesting than the usual “smart contract risk” disclaimer.

it's how much the system depends on the people and infrastructure sitting around the protocol.

TermMax gives curators a meaningful role.

they can set pricing curves, manage market parameters and help determine how liquidity is deployed.

that makes sense.

specialized markets need specialized risk management.

but it also creates a trade-off.

the more important the curator becomes, the more important curator quality becomes.

a bad parameter isn't just a bad number on a dashboard.

it can affect pricing, liquidity and the behavior of an entire market.

then there is the oracle layer.

TermMax's own documentation acknowledges that even with a dual-oracle design, oracle failures could affect pricing accuracy and liquidation processes.

and the current liquidity distribution gives me another reason to pay attention.

DefiLlama currently shows TermMax at roughly $31M TVL, but about 98% of that TVL is on Ethereum.

so technically being deployed across several chains doesn't necessarily mean liquidity is equally deep across those chains.

that's important.

because fragmented liquidity can become a problem precisely when users need it most.

i don't see these as reasons to dismiss TermMax.

actually, i think they're the questions worth asking if the protocol wants to become serious financial infrastructure.

can curator decisions remain robust as markets scale?

can liquidity become genuinely distributed instead of mostly Ethereum-centered?

can oracle infrastructure remain reliable during extreme volatility?

and perhaps the biggest one:

how decentralized can a protocol be when specialized humans still play such an important role in managing its markets?

that's not a criticism i want an easy answer to.

it's something i'd rather watch the protocol prove over time.
