That small moment sent me down a rabbit hole, and Nillion was one stop along the way. Pieces get spread across many machines, so no single one holds the full story.
What makes it feel grounded is that the problem isn't imaginary. Clinics, insurers, banks, and public offices all face real rules about protecting personal details. A tool designed to fit inside those expectations has somewhere practical to go, which is rarely true of crypto projects.
Still, I'd be fooling myself if I stopped there. Good design doesn't automatically mean good practice. Who audits the nodes? If something leaks, who answers for it? And regulators don't always read "nobody can see this" as comforting.
