Circle's Arc just crossed $1B in USDC, six weeks after mainnet. Here's what that number does and doesn't tell us.
The facts: Arc's public mainnet opened Sept 16. Native USDC on the chain passed $1 billion on Oct 27 (about $1.003B per usdc.cool), and DefiLlama shows total stablecoin market cap on Arc up roughly 32% in a week and 112% over 30 days. USDC is also Arc's gas token, so there's no separate volatile coin needed to transact.
My take: the speed is real, but I'd read it as "dollars parked" rather than "dollars used." The Defiant's explorer math shows the four largest addresses hold about 73% of Arc's USDC. Part of the growth is identifiable, like perp exchange Extended migrating about $120M of TVL to Arc, but a supply milestone isn't the same as payments volume.
What I'm watching next: active addresses and transfer counts, whether that top-4 share falls as more apps deploy, and how much of this liquidity is new money versus USDC moved from other chains.
For $ETH holders, this is one more stablecoin-native L1 competing for settlement flow. ETH is trading around $2,360 today, up about 2% on the day, with $2,300 as the nearby level I'm watching.
