GRT is trading at $0.0217 — about 99% below its all-time high — on the night before the Fed decides. Here's the twist: the network just did exactly what it promised. The market just doesn't care yet.

On 8 October, The Graph moved production query traffic for BNB Chain and Polygon off its centralised Subgraph Studio staging layer onto its decentralised network, where independent indexers serve queries and earn fees in GRT. This is the data layer apps and AI agents query for blockchain data. The market got it briefly — GRT jumped 25.6% in late September on the migration news, spot volume past $117 million. Then it faded, all the way to $0.0217.

That fade is the pattern. Sunrise and the Arbitrum migration in June 2024, now this migration — every GRT catalyst produced a sharp, high-volume spike that faded within weeks. Headlines move GRT for days. Only follow-through moves it for months — and no published figure yet shows how much fee volume actually moved at the 8 October cutover.

Tomorrow forces the issue. The Fed decides on Wednesday 28 October, and $BTC is already below $80,000 — around $79,700 this morning — as traders wait on December guidance. A hold is widely expected, so the statement's tone is what markets will trade, not the decision itself. When macro fear rises, high-beta alts fall harder than Bitcoin: GRT underperformed a near-flat Bitcoin again today, down about 2.5%. If the statement lands hawkish, alts — $ETH included — usually take the bigger hit. If it lands calm, beaten-down names snap back first. Either way, the Fed moves first and GRT reacts second.

So what are traders watching? Pull up $GRT's chart and the map is clean. Support sits near $0.0215, with the 200-day average around $0.0212 just below it — lose that shelf and the August all-time low near $0.0130 stops looking like ancient history. Overhead, $0.0227 is the first ceiling and $0.0245 is the reclaim level that flips the tone from damage control to recovery. Hold $0.0215 into the statement and the story stays alive. Break it on thin volume and the fade is still in charge.

Now the honest part, where most GRT pitches fall apart. Query volumes run into the billions, yet DeFiLlama puts the network's fees at roughly $15,000 over the past 30 days — nowhere near covering 3% annual issuance on about 10.94 billion circulating GRT, with no maximum supply. Until paid fees, not query counts, climb quarter after quarter, this is a usage story waiting for a revenue story.

That gap — real migration, washed-out price — is why GRT is worth watching into Wednesday. Hold the shelf, or keep fading toward the August lows. Tomorrow forces an answer.
