WALLET IS NOW “WALT” AND THE NAME GAME IS GETTING CONFUSING.

Wallet has officially rebranded to Walt, with a new name, logo and social handles. The team says users don’t need to migrate anything funds, accounts and settings remain unchanged.

But there are two things worth paying attention to:

Wallet → Walt: Be careful with old “Wallet” accounts or anyone messaging you pretending to be the old brand. The team says it will never DM users first or ask for sensitive information.

$TON → $GRAM : The platform has also moved away from TON, yet the rebrand announcement still says the product originally started as a bot for easily buying Toncoin and Bitcoin. The copy apparently forgot to update one line.

Personally, I think Layer 1 projects should think twice before changing their coin and wallet names. It creates unnecessary friction: users can get confused about tickers, wallets, addresses, apps, exchanges and fake accounts and scammers absolutely love that confusion.

Crypto branding: easy to change. User trust: not so easy.
