Two years ago in Japan, I first heard Binance was working with PayPay. Now it's finally live.
Eligible overseas tourists in Japan can now open Binance Pay, scan any PayPay merchant QR code, and pay directly with crypto. PayPay is basically Japan's Alipay—this instantly plugs into millions of payment points across the country.
This is what real crypto payments look like: No need to exchange yen first or top up a local wallet. System auto-converts to yen at checkout.
Downside? Currently only for eligible foreign tourists. Japanese residents and Binance Japan users can't use it yet.
