*đŸ‡ŻđŸ‡” Bank of Japan Hikes Rate to 1.25% (31-Year High) — Yet Bitcoin Holds Strong Above $77K!*

The Bank of Japan made a historic move on September 18.

*Key Highlights:*

đŸ”č BOJ raised its benchmark rate from 1.00% to *1.25%*

đŸ”č Highest level since 1995 — a 31-year high

đŸ”č Decision passed by 7-2 vote, with 2 members opposing

*Bitcoin's Reaction:*

Bitcoin did not dump. After dipping to $76,200, BTC recovered to trade above *$77,400*, up 1.4% in 24h. BTC/JPY on bitFlyer rose 0.5% to 12.06 million yen.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs also stayed positive with *$159M inflows* on Sept 17, supporting the price.

*Why Did Yen Weaken Despite Hike?*

USD/JPY rose from 156.20 to 156.70 after the decision. Markets treated it as a dovish hike because BOJ gave no signal of aggressive future tightening.

*What About Yen Carry Trade?*

Many traders borrow cheap Yen to buy BTC/ETH. Higher Japanese rates make this trade expensive and can trigger sell-offs. But Japan's 1.25% vs US 3.75%-4.00% — the yield gap is still wide, so no panic yet.

*My Take:*

The market has digested both Fed and BOJ hikes. Holding $77K is a bullish sign. All eyes now on Governor Ueda's speech and the next Yen move.
