Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade is in public testing, which makes this a practical testing period for wallets, dApps, indexers, node operators and infrastructure teams.
Platåberget is designed as an early post-Glamsterdam environment where teams can test the fork before it advances to Ethereum’s longer-lived testnets and mainnet. This matters because Glamsterdam is not one isolated feature. It combines major changes to block construction, state access, gas accounting, contract limits and execution infrastructure.
The immediate risk for many downstream systems is not the idea of the upgrade. It is a hidden assumption inside existing software.
Examples include:
• Treating 21,000 as sufficient for every ETH transfer
• Hardcoding one maximum gas limit
• Caching old gas constants inside estimators
• Rejecting unfamiliar block or payload fields
• Double-counting native ETH transfers after new observability changes
• Assuming state-heavy operations will retain the same economics
Regular users do not need to move, convert or upgrade ETH. Messages claiming that Glamsterdam requires a migration transaction should be treated as a scam warning.
The responsible approach is to separate the current facts: the fork is in public testing, the specifications are still being tested, and a final mainnet activation time should not be invented before it is officially coordinated.
