Bitcoin is holding near recent highs after one of its strongest weekly advances in years, with the market now focused on whether spot demand can extend the move. Recent market reports show Bitcoin finishing last week near $77,000 after briefly trading close to $79,500, helped by renewed ETF demand, lower yield pressure and regulatory optimism in the United States.
The most important driver is institutional flow. US spot Bitcoin ETFs reportedly drew about $1.9 billion last week, while spot Ether ETFs attracted roughly $697 million. Combined Bitcoin and Ether ETF inflows reached about $2.6 billion, the strongest weekly total since October 2025. This matters because the rally followed a period of weaker demand, so sustained ETF buying would support the argument that the move is more than a short squeeze.
Macro conditions also improved. Reports linked the rally to expectations for easier liquidity after US Treasury buyback plans pressured longer-term yields and softened the dollar. Bitcoin continues to trade like a scarce, liquid macro asset, so rate expectations, US inflation data and dollar direction remain critical for the next leg.
Regulation is adding another layer of support. US policy discussion around clearer digital asset market-structure rules, including the CLARITY Act and greater CFTC involvement, has reduced perceived regulatory risk. Clearer rules could make it easier for banks, asset managers and public companies to increase crypto exposure.
Ethereum is benefiting from the same institutional bid, but its outperformance will likely depend on whether ETF inflows combine with stronger stablecoin settlement, DeFi activity and layer-2 usage. Major altcoins such as Solana, XRP and BNB also joined the weekly rebound, showing broader risk appetite.
Traders should still treat the rally as two-sided. Sentiment gauges have moved toward greed, and rapid gains can leave markets vulnerable to profit-taking. DeFi security risk also remains active after a reported governance exploit at Term Finance renewed attention on protocol controls.
Key watchlist: Bitcoin ETF flow continuity, Ether ETF follow-through, US inflation and rate commentary, crypto regulation headlines, stablecoin liquidity, DeFi security incidents and whether spot demand replaces leverage as the main source of buying.
