Alibaba has reportedly made AI office tools a strategic priority and completed an internal reorganization that combines QoderWork, Wukong, and MuleRun into a single product under the QwenWork brand. According to ChainCatcher, the former Wukong division has been upgraded to the Qwen Office Division and is led by Chen Yusen.

QwenWork began public testing on August 3, with web and PC versions available and a DingTalk entry expected to go live soon. On the same day, Alibaba released its Qwen3.8 model, which strengthens coding and coworking capabilities.

Alibaba is positioning QwenWork as an enterprise AI productivity platform for organizations rather than an individual office tool, and it is not treating user numbers or monthly active users as its main near-term performance targets. The division also oversees DingTalk, with the aim of connecting with DingTalk's large enterprise customer base.

According to industry data cited in the report, Tencent's WorkBuddy led desktop traffic for AI office agents in June, followed by ByteDance's TRAE IDE and Alibaba's QoderWork. The internal consolidation is seen as a key move in Alibaba's effort to catch up with Tencent and ByteDance. Alibaba's Hong Kong-listed shares rose more than 7% on August 3 after the report.
