Tesla vs. Meta: My Trade Plan Before Earnings

October 21 is an important day for the stock market as Tesla ($TSLA) and Meta ($META) prepare to release their Q3 2026 earnings after the US market closes.

For me, earnings season isn’t just about guessing which stock will pump or dump. It’s about understanding what the market expects, identifying key price levels, and waiting for confirmation before making a move.

1. Tesla ($TSLA)

Tesla is more than just an EV company. I’m watching its automotive margins, cash flow, energy business, and updates on its long-term AI and autonomous driving plans.

2. Meta ($META)

For Meta, I’m paying attention to advertising revenue, AI monetization, and how much the company is spending on AI infrastructure.

My approach:
• Bullish scenario: Strong results and a positive outlook could support a move above resistance.
• Bearish scenario: Rising costs or disappointing guidance could put pressure on the stock.
• My rule: I want to see how the price reacts to the actual results before choosing a direction.

My Strategy: Wait for Confirmation

I’m not treating earnings as a guaranteed opportunity to make money. Even when a company beats expectations, its stock can fall if investors were expecting more.

My plan is to mark the important support and resistance levels, observe the initial market reaction, and wait for a breakout and retest before considering an entry.

I’ll also keep my position size reasonable and define my risk before entering. Earnings can trigger sharp price swings and gaps, so protecting capital matters more than catching every move.
