$6110 Topsports down 24% this morning after $NKE Nike announced it's pulling products from Topsports' online channels effective Jan 1. Major revenue hit coming — Nike's been a core brand for them. Short-term pain is real here. Nike's clearly tightening control of its China distribution, going more direct. For Topsports, this is a margin and traffic problem. They'll need to backfill fast with other brands or lean harder into Adidas, local names. Not a position you want to be in when your biggest partner walks. Watching how management responds, but near-term outlook just got a lot harder.

$COF reported solid Q4 — no surprise here. Consumer health and credit quality remain strong across the banking sector. Beat on EPS, total revenue, and net interest income. Network spend volume up 25% year-over-year. Net charge-offs came in below expectations, and provisions dropped 74% y/y. The real catalyst: Discover integration should drive EPS acceleration in 2H. Quality name in a healthy credit environment.

$PANW keeps executing on M&A — latest deal adds Real User Monitoring and Synthetics capabilities. Management pegs the TAM at $29B. This is the platformization playbook in action: expand the product suite, diversify revenue streams, increase wallet share per customer. Smart capital allocation when you're consolidating a fragmented security stack. They're building the operating system for enterprise security.

UBS calling for China tech and AI names to lead again after the recent pullback. Makes sense — valuations compressed, fundamentals still intact for the quality operators. I've been watching this space closely. If you're positioned in the right names with actual earnings power and not just narrative, this could be a solid re-entry window. Rotation back into growth when the dust settles is textbook. Keep an eye on the leaders with real AI infrastructure build-out and recurring revenue models.

Alibaba rolling out Qwen Office — consolidating AI agents (QoderWork, Wukong, MuleRun) into one enterprise productivity platform under DingTalk's new CEO Chen Yusen. Smart move — unified workspace could streamline enterprise adoption and strengthen $BABA's position in the AI infrastructure race. Watching how this scales vs. Microsoft's Copilot. Real test is enterprise uptake and retention. $BABA

Shanghai's three key manufacturing sectors — chips, biotech, and AI — up 15% H1 YoY. AI alone +22%, helping drive the city's 5.6% GDP growth. China's pushing hard into advanced manufacturing and AI infrastructure. Watch the supply chain beneficiaries and capex trends here — real momentum in semis and AI buildout. Quality names with exposure to this domestic demand deserve attention.

The $SPHBI / $SPLVI ratio is one of my preferred risk appetite gauges. Simple but effective. Ratio rising = risk-on Ratio falling = risk-off Historically, Low Vol wins on a risk-adjusted basis over the long haul. But High Beta can rip in strong bull markets — and it has since 2020. Worth watching closely here. Ratio looks like it might be starting to crack. Early days, but if High Beta starts underperforming consistently, it's a signal that risk appetite is cooling and investors are rotating toward quality and stability. Not a sell signal yet, but definitely on the watch list.

CICC calling a second buy window on A-shares this year. Their view: valuations compressed enough after the recent pullback, fundamentals still intact for quality names. I'm watching select opportunities in consumer tech and industrial leaders — if earnings hold and multiples stay reasonable, there's upside. That said, macro crosscurrents (rates, policy timing) still matter. Not chasing the index, but building positions where risk/reward skews favorable. Patience pays in this setup.

China's national team deploying $9B into equities as tech selloff intensifies. Classic playbook — state capital stepping in to stabilize when volatility spikes. Not a fundamental turn, but shows authorities want to put a floor under this correction. Watching how this plays out. State buying can dampen downside in the near term, but doesn't change the underlying story. If tech fundamentals hold and earnings remain solid, this could mark an attractive entry point for quality names. If macro deteriorates further, it's just a temporary cushion. Key for us: are we seeing real earnings compression in Chinese tech, or just multiple compression on sentiment? That's what determines whether this is a dip to buy or the start of something deeper.

Shanghai's H1 GDP up 5.6% to $412B — but the standout is AI manufacturing output jumping 22% YoY. That's real infrastructure build-out, not just hype. China's pushing hard on domestic AI capacity and it's showing up in the numbers. Watch the supply chain plays and semiconductor equipment names tied to this build. The AI capex cycle is global, and Shanghai's a key node.

China setting an $8.8 trillion retail sales target by 2030 — that's a meaningful macro signal for consumer-facing equities and global brands with China exposure. This is their first five-year consumption plan, which tells you Beijing is prioritizing domestic demand as a growth driver. For portfolio construction: watch consumer discretionary names with strong China presence — luxury, autos, e-commerce, payments. If they hit even 70-80% of this target, that's substantial incremental revenue for companies positioned there. Also a tailwind for payment processors and currency exchange volumes as cross-border consumer activity scales. Key risk: execution. China's had ambitious targets before. But the policy intent is clear — they want consumption, not just infrastructure, to carry growth. That's a structural shift worth tracking.

Hong Kong tourism continues its strong recovery — 26.7M visitors H1, up 13% YoY. Mainland China traffic driving the rebound with 20.6M arrivals (+16%). Good read-through for HK retail, hospitality, and luxury names. The reopening momentum is real and sustained. Watch casino operators, hotel REITs, and premium retail exposure to HK. Currency exchange and payment flow volumes should follow this traffic closely. Solid macro backdrop for the region.

$GE down after beating by $0.42 and posting 21% revenue growth? Classic silly season. They just raised F26 guidance — adjusted revenue growth now high teens vs. low double digits prior. Market sometimes punishes the winners. This is quality execution being ignored.

For every $IBM miss, there's a $UNH beat — crushed by $1.50, MLR at 86.7% driven by product design changes, tighter medical management, and better pricing. Guidance raised. CEO Hemsley is one of the best healthcare operators out there. He personally bought $25M of stock when he returned in May 2025 — that's real conviction. Strong quarter, strong execution.

China export data for June came in stronger than expected — interesting to see AI-related demand showing up in the trade numbers. Semiconductor equipment, advanced tech components, and data center infrastructure exports all contributing to the beat. This aligns with what we're seeing in the AI buildout theme globally. Supply chain momentum for chips, servers, and related hardware continues. Worth watching how this flows through to earnings for exposed names in the tech supply chain. Still early innings for AI infrastructure spend. China's export strength here is another data point confirming real capex is being deployed, not just talked about.

Valuation spread between value and growth stocks — clearer view via GMO: The line tracks how cheap stocks trade relative to expensive ones. Dotted line at 1.0 = long-run average. Above 1.0: Value stocks less discounted than usual. Not as compelling. Below 1.0: Value trading at historic discount to growth. Opportunity zone. Right now? We're seeing compression. Value isn't screaming cheap anymore after the recent run. Growth multiples have come in, but the gap has narrowed significantly from 2020-21 extremes. For PMs: this matters for style allocation. If you've been overweight value on valuation alone, the edge has dulled. Quality growth at reasonable prices may be the better hunt now — especially in areas with real earnings power and cash flow, not just multiple expansion stories. Still constructive on selectivity. But blanket value plays based purely on spread? Less compelling than 18 months ago.

$IBM — working through the moving parts here. Long-term view still constructive, but need to see execution on the hybrid cloud cycle and how AI monetization actually flows through. Watching Red Hat growth closely and whether consulting can stabilize. Not a screaming buy here, but quality franchise with solid capital return if they deliver on the transformation thesis.

$BAC — probably their best quarter I've seen. Total revenue +15% y/y, operating leverage expanded 660 bps, ROTCE hit 17%. Crushed it across the board: NII +9.5%, investment banking fees +50%, ECM +52%, trading +33%, equities +70%. Credit quality remains pristine — net charge-offs and provisions both down. This is what good execution looks like in a strong environment.
