At around 10:30 AM, I received a call from an unknown number saying I had an online order worth nearly 1.8 million VND waiting for payment.

Something felt wrong, so I checked the shopping app first. The package was still in transit and had not been delivered. When I called the number back, no one answered.

The more I learned about Binance P2P escrow, the less I worried about the system — and the more I worried about user behavior.

I used to think escrow meant: if something goes wrong, the system will protect me.

But that’s only true if I follow the process.

Late last night, while scrolling through the mid-cap lists, I noticed DUSK trading at around six cents, with a market cap of just over thirty million. The volume was low, and nothing particularly stood out. However, that small detail piqued my interest and led me back to the charts and the documentation.

DUSK positions itself as a privacy-focused layer-1 blockchain designed for regulated financial applications. It offers features like confidential smart contracts, the XSC standard, selective disclosure, and compliance tools. The idea is that institutions can settle assets without disclosing every detail on a public ledger. Additionally, they’ve incorporated an EVM layer to provide developers with a starting point. On paper, the technical aspects of DUSK appear promising.

However, what sets DUSK apart is the limited actual usage of its narrative. The total value locked (TVL) remains relatively low, activity metrics are modest, and the market seems to be valuing the story more than any proven demand. Initial vesting was completed years ago, so the primary supply pressure now comes from the long halving emissions schedule aimed at rewarding staking. This schedule is gradual rather than sudden.

One interesting aspect of DUSK is the split between issuers and venues. Issuers and venues could potentially utilize the privacy and settlement features without holding significant amounts of the token. In contrast, token holders are the ones bearing the inflation and the wait. While there is utility for gas and staking, it hasn’t yet created a strong feedback loop.

I frequently return to the question: will real institutional volume ever bridge the gap between the roadmap and the actual numbers displayed on the screen? The true test will be actual adoption, not merely more announcements.
