#cftcadvancesvoluntaryregcamframework 🚨 CFTC Moves Forward with a Voluntary Crypto Framework: Reg CTX & Reg CAM 🚨 📅 On October 5, 2026, the U.S. CFTC published an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) to build a federal framework for retail crypto trading. 🇺🇸 🧩 Two key pieces: 🔹 Regulation CTX 📜 Clarifies which retail crypto transactions fall under CFTC oversight, especially when leverage, margin, or financing is offered. 🔹 Regulation CAM 🏛️ Creates a new exchange category called a Crypto Asset Market (CAM), a tailored subcategory of the existing DCM structure built for how crypto trading actually works. ✅ Why it matters: 🤝 Voluntary route: Exchanges can choose to register. The CFTC chair has said crypto would not be required to trade on CFTC-registered platforms. 🏦 Leverage with guardrails: Retail leverage would run only through arrangements administered by an FCM, or by a bank sponsored by one. 🔍 Transparency focus: Reports suggest proof-of-reserves and anti-manipulation controls could be part of the requirements. 📊 Spot markets: The focus is on leveraged retail trading, so everyday spot trading is not the main target. ⚠️ Keep in mind: 📝 This is not a final rule. It is a request for public comment, and the process is still early. ⏳ A 60-day comment window is the next marker to watch. 👀 ⚖️ Some experts point to legal uncertainty, since the CFTC is acting without new legislation. Its reach will depend on how many exchanges choose to opt in. 💬 What do you think? Will exchanges embrace federal registration, or stay under state oversight?
