UK's new budget just dropped. Chancellor Healey laying out the fiscal roadmap under PM Burnham.

Three things that matter:

1. Fiscal discipline stays intact — deficits and borrowing trending down over multiple years. No surprise splurges.

2. £15 billion headroom cushion. They're using part of the previous buffer to absorb recent shocks (higher inflation, energy mess from geopolitical chaos). Sensible, not reckless.

3. Focus: protect the vulnerable, build economic resilience, support growth. Standard playbook, but execution is what counts.

Markets reacted positively so far. That's the easy part. Real test is whether this holds up when the next external shock hits — and there's always a next one.

Fiscal credibility is earned slowly and lost quickly. So far, so good.
