Ripple has received final approval from the OCC for its Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB).

This approval was granted on October 26, allowing Ripple to join the ranks of federally supervised trust banks, alongside companies like Circle, BitGo, and Fidelity.

The bank will be located in New York and operate under the supervision of both the OCC and the NYDFS.

The focus of RNTB will not be on $XRP but rather on the RLUSD stablecoin.

The bank will manage approximately $2.5 billion in RLUSD reserves, which include cash, U.S. government securities, and cash equivalents.

It will also act as a collateral trustee for RLUSD holders and provide fiduciary digital asset custody services to enterprises.

Notably, XRP has no designated function within the bank's charter, leaving $XRP holders further away from immediate benefits.

In terms of numbers, the RLUSD supply has reached around $2.57 billion, marking an 86% increase since January. In contrast, XRP's price is currently $1.30, down 37% since the same period and 64% from its high of $3.65 in July 2025.

Additionally, 61% of RLUSD transactions occur on the Ethereum network, while 39% are on the XRPL, indicating that most RLUSD transactions do not involve burning XRP.

CEO Brad Garlinghouse stated that "crypto and banks work better together — real innovation, real accountability, federal oversight."

In summary, while this development represents significant progress for Ripple's institutional adoption and the credibility of RLUSD, retail $XRP holders may find themselves at a disadvantage for the time being.

The bank charter primarily supports stablecoin and custody initiatives rather than benefiting XRP directly, suggesting a more bullish outlook for long-term infrastructure rather than immediate gains for XRP holders.
