đš Zcash blocks are about to get three times faster
The Zcash Foundation just released Zebra 7.0.0, the first stable version of its node software that supports NU7. The network upgrade is planned for around November 5.
Node operators need to upgrade before block 3,543,405 or theyâll fall off the main chain. The older 6.4.x version will shut down automatically in the days leading up to the switch.
What NU7 actually does:
âą Cuts block time from 75 seconds down to 25 seconds
âą Divides block rewards by three so daily $ZEC issuance stays the same
âą Sends 60% of every blockâs transaction fees into a reserve (miners keep the other 40%)
One important note: any funds still sitting in Sprout (Zcashâs oldest privacy pool) will become unspendable once NU7 goes live.
