🚨 Two critical security flaws. One warning the crypto industry shouldn't ignore.

A security alert is putting crypto platforms on notice after the disclosure of two critical PHP vulnerabilities: CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.

Both carry a severity score of 9.2 under CVSS v4.0.

The concern? Under certain conditions, attackers could exploit affected servers to execute malicious code without authentication.

🔍 Why does this matter for crypto?

PHP powers parts of many websites and online services. A vulnerable server connected to a crypto platform could become an entry point for attackers.

That doesn't mean cryptocurrencies or blockchain networks themselves are compromised.

The risk lies in the infrastructure supporting services such as exchanges, DeFi applications and wallet platforms.

Blockchain security firm SlowMist says its MistEye intelligence system conducted a global scan of PHP-related assets across the crypto industry following the disclosures.

🛠️ The good news: patches are available.

PHP released security updates on October 21, including versions 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35.

SlowMist is urging affected service providers to assess their exposure and apply the relevant fixes promptly.

Here's the bigger lesson.

Crypto security isn't only about protecting private keys or auditing smart contracts.

Sometimes, the weak point is ordinary software running behind the scenes.

And when that software supports financial services, a routine server vulnerability can become a much bigger problem.

The disclosure is a warning about potential exposure, not evidence that every crypto platform has been breached.
