Zcash developers selected block 3,543,405 for the planned NU7 upgrade, which would triple payment speed by reducing block intervals from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. Zakura's public upgrade dashboard places the planned mainnet activation around November 5. NU7 will temporarily withdraw 60% of each block's fees from circulation and completely disable the original Sprout privacy system, leaving remaining Sprout funds unspendable. Sean Bowe's activation proposal still awaited incorporation into the deployment specification as of 08:00 UTC Wednesday. Node software also needs to incorporate the selected block height before activation can occur.
