🚹 CRYPTO SECURITY ALERT: CRIMINALS REPORTEDLY MODIFIED GENUINE LEDGER WALLETS TO STEAL USERS’ RECOVERY PHRASES.

This wasn’t a fake wallet scam. Attackers allegedly bought authentic devices, secretly implanted malicious hardware, and redistributed them through Southeast Asian resale channels.

The operation reportedly ran for months, backed by millions of dollars and a fund-laundering scheme.

Ledger has now instructed authorized resellers and distributors across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to temporarily HALT sales.

The company is also banning open-shelf displays and the resale of returned devices.

Here’s the critical distinction: Ledger says its secure chips, BOLOS operating system, and internal servers remain uncompromised. The reported attack was confined to local third-party distribution channels.

But the bigger warning for every crypto holder is this:

A genuine brand doesn’t automatically guarantee a safe device if its supply chain has been tampered with.

Never share your recovery phrase. Be cautious with resale devices, and remember: whoever controls your seed phrase can potentially control your crypto.

Your hardware wallet is only as safe as the process you trust to get it.
